I find it very unique the way that certain parts of this story are interwoven with the stories of the main series. This is particularly interesting with the mission they have in Israel- in the main series, the character Buck Williams goes to rescue Tsion Ben Judah, in this story, the characters Judd and Ryan go to do some other things there, they sort of end up taking care of some unfinished business. It’s quite moving the way that the characters sometimes work together, and when they meet the characters from the main series. There are some tribulation events that this series actually covers better than the main series. This is the case with the giant earthquake. In the main series, it only covered the experience of 2 characters. In this series it covers the experiences of many characters who all experience it differently, from different locations. This gets very intense and exciting.

The first time through though I compared the bible verses to what said in the book to make sure the authors weren't just making stuff up. These books are very incitefull as to what is coming when Jesus raptures his church. Very scary stuff. This series is a must read for everyone Christian and nonchristian alike.

If I would recommend this to someone it would be someone who is questioning God or his power or someone who want to learn what will happen when The Rapture happens. This series is nothing you would expect so buy it and get lost in it. I know I am!!!!!!!!!!!!

Chapter 1

It’s funny. Once upon a time, summer was my favorite season. Come June there was no school or homework, no alarm clocks or early bedtimes. There was only three whole months to do whatever I wanted, whenever I wanted. All year long I counted down to that stretch of freedom. But this summer? I wouldn’t mind skipping it. Because there’s what I want to do . . . and there’s what I have to do. And those are two very different things. “What can I get you, Seamus? Fish-stick pancakes? Fish-stick waffles? Fish-stick bacon? Fish-stick home fries? A bagel with cream cheese and fish sticks?” It’s the first day of vacation. Mom’s spiraling around the kitchen like a tornado in a cornfield. Dad and I are sitting at the table. He’s reading the newspaper and drinking coffee—the only breakfast item not featuring my favorite food. I’m waiting. Mom gasps. Spins toward the table. Waves a spatula like it’s a hundred degrees in here and she’s trying to keep me cool. “I know,” she says. “How about . . . a fish-stick omelet?” “Sure,” I say. “Thanks.” “Believe me.” Mom spins toward the stove. “It’s my pleasure.” I bet it is. “So, son.” Dad folds the newspaper and places it on the table. “Your first day off. Three free months ahead of you. Have you thought about how you’d like to spend them?” “Well, they’re not totally free. We’ll still have weekly homework.” Dad sits back like I’ve just sneezed without covering my nose. “But it’s summer vacation.” “And a great opportunity to sharpen our skills.” I sneak a peek at Mom. She stills at “skills,” then cracks another egg over a bowl. “It’s okay. I don’t have any other plans.” “Then we should make some. How about a few rounds at the Cloudview Putt-n-Play this weekend? Some quality father-son time? Just like the old days?” Dad gives me a small, hopeful smile. Behind his thick black-framed glasses, his eyes are bright. So much has happened since the old days, it’s hard to imagine going back. But Dad didn’t do anything. None of it was his fault. “Okay,” I say. “Sounds fun.” “Wonderful! I’ll call when I get to the office and reserve a cart.” “You’re leaving?” Mom asks as Dad brings his dishes to the sink. “Already?” “The numbers won’t crunch themselves,” Dad says proudly. “It’s Seamus’s first morning home. Can’t you go in a little later?” “Sorry, my dear. But I’ll be back soon, and we’ll have a great night. Together. As a family.” I’ve just taken a bite of omelet and now force it down my throat. Not because it tastes bad—although I must say, despite being made with my favorite food, it’s not my favorite dish—but because the thought of Mom, Dad, and I as a family, the kind that talks and laughs and plays board games, is so strange and unexpected that I almost choke. Dad kisses her cheek, then comes over and gives me a hug. When he’s gone, Mom catches my eye, quickly turns away, and continues cooking. This is it. We’re alone. For the first time since Christmas morning, when I found her in the attic, surrounded by boxes of— My K-Pak buzzes. I take the handheld computer from my shorts pocket and press the K-Mail icon. TO: shinkle@kilteracademy.org FROM: loliver@kilteracademy.org SUBJECT: hey S— Happy to be home. You? —L I smile at the five-word e-mail. This is typical Lemon. The only thing my roommate uses less than syllables is exclamation points. I press reply. “Errands.” I look up. “I just remembered,” Mom says, emptying the frying pan. “I need to go to the dry cleaners. And the post office. And the grocery store. And the vet.” “We don’t have a pet,” I say. She drops the spatula. It lands on the floor with a thwack. “I think I read that they’re having adoptions today. Wouldn’t that be nice? To welcome an adorable puppy or kitten into our family?” Our family. It sounds even stranger coming from her. She steps over the spatula and places a plate of mushy eggs and seafood onto the table before me. “Don’t worry about the mess. I’ll take care of it when I get back.” My chin drops. This is easily the weirdest thing she’s said since she and Dad picked me up yesterday afternoon. Before I left Cloudview Middle School for Kilter Academy for Troubled Youth—or was yanked out of one and left at the other—I had a list of daily chores that needed to be completed before I did anything else, including homework. The first item on that list was making my bed. The second was cleaning the kitchen after breakfast. Skipping either was never an option. One time I was up late playing video games, overslept, and had eight minutes to get ready for school—and I still swept the kitchen floor and loaded the dishwasher, even though my breakfast was a handful of granola that I gulped down while sprinting to the bus, which I almost missed. Another time, Mom found crumbs because I forgot to wipe the table, and I lost TV privileges for a month. After that I didn’t want to find out what she’d do if I skipped the task entirely. So why the sudden rule change? Like the morning fish-stick overload, is it meant to butter me up? Or distract me? Or make me forget what she did? Hearing her hurry around upstairs, I return to my K-Pak. TO: loliver@kilteracademy.org FROM: shinkle@kilteracademy.org SUBJECT: RE: Hey Hi, Lemon! So great to hear from you. I can’t believe it’s been less than 24 hours since we left Kilter. It already feels like 24 days since you made Abe, Gabby, and me our last black-bean breakfast burritos of the semester. How are your parents? And your little brother? He must be really happy you’re home. Everything’s okay here. Different, but I guess that’s normal since I was away for so long. My dad and I already have some fun things planned, so that’s good. I missed him. But it’s still a little weird. I bet— There’s a loud bang upstairs. It’s so loud I jump in my chair. My thumbs shoot across the K-Pak screen. I accidentally send Lemon’s unfinished note. The sound’s followed by several smaller, quieter thumps. When I land back in my seat, I register where they’re coming from. The attic. Mom’s cell phone rings. It’s on the counter, next to her purse and car keys. I hurry over to it, glance at Dad’s smiling face on the phone screen, and tap the red rectangle to ignore the call. The ringing stops. The screen goes black. “Sorry,” I say. And I am. For sending Dad to voicemail before Mom can hear her phone and rush downstairs. For doing what I’m about to do, which is something I never would’ve done eight months ago—or anytime before I found Mom huddled in the attic, surrounded by Kilter Academy boxes. Most of all, I’m sorry for having that reason to do what I’m about to do. Taking Mom’s keys from the counter, I slide the key ring onto a dish towel. I hold both ends of the towel so that the keys slip to the middle, raise my arm, and start making small, slow circles. Then I lift my arm higher and make bigger, faster circles. Soon the towel is whipping above my head like a lasso. As my eyes look for a target, my head fills with other images. I see the Cloudview Middle School cafeteria. A shiny red apple flying toward a cluster of fighting kids. Miss Parsippany, my substitute teacher, collapsing to the floor. A big, open field. A line of apple-headed mannequins defenseless against the archery arrows headed their way. An ancient school bus flying through the desert. Flaming paper airplanes. Me, throwing the shiny red apple. Firing archery arrows. Hurling flaming paper airplanes. And then I select my current target. And the other images disappear. I spin the keys again, then snap my wrist. The key ring slips from the dish towel, sails through the air across the kitchen, and descends in a perfect arc toward the stove. Where it lands with a plop into a pot of fish-stick oatmeal. I put the dish towel back on the counter, then return to my chair and pick up my K-Pak. I’m reading about Kilter’s plans to expand the Kommissary, the school store, when Mom enters the kitchen a few minutes later. “Well, that’s strange,” she says. “What?” I ask, not looking up. “My car keys were right here.” “Where?” “On the counter. Between my cell phone and pocketbook.” “Are you sure?” “Yes. That’s where I always put them.” “You must’ve put them somewhere else.” “I didn’t. I distinctly remember placing them here when we got home.” “Oh, well,” I say. “Guess you can’t do your errands now.” I peer over my K-Pak and watch her rummage through her purse. She turns the bag upside down and dumps its contents onto the counter. Her fingers tremble as she sifts through tissues and breath mints, loose change and coupons. “We can spend all day together,” I add. “Won’t that be nice?” Her hands freeze. They thaw a second later, and she throws everything that’s on the counter back into her purse. “No problem,” she says. “I’ll walk.” “Town’s four miles away.” “The exercise will do me good.” Taking her bag, she flies from the kitchen. The front door opens and slams shut. Still in my hand, the K-Pak buzzes. TO: shinkle@kilteracademy.org FROM: loliver@kilteracademy.org SUBJECT: RE: RE: hey Different how? Weird in what way? —L I press reply, start typing. TO: loliver@kilteracademy.org FROM: shinkle@kilteracademy.org SUBJECT: RE: RE: RE: hey You don’t want to know. Trust me. I wish I didn’t.

I was fortunate enough to have read a pre-release copy of this book, and as with the first two books in the series, I had so much fun reading this one. The writing is fantastic, I truly feel anyone young and old alike can pick this book up and have no trouble getting right in to it. It's so frustrating to start a book and to be 20 or 30 pages in to it and it still has not found it's stride. I really enjoyed the characters and the dark humor and wit that still shows a lot of heart. Seamus is a great character, and I hope we keep seeing more of him!

Great Book With Unsatisfying Cliffhanger Ending By Bookeater23 I have read and enjoyed the two boks before this one in the Merits of Mischief series, and T.R. Burns has not changed a bit. I was completely satisfied with the whole story with the exeption of the very end. I'm not going to spoil anything, but let's just say it beckons for a sequel. All in all a good book. I don' recommend reading this without having read the two prequels,as the plot relies greatly on the first books.

To add to her troubles, someone tries to murder Detective Shorts and an up and coming journalist, who does not believe in mediums or ghosts, plans on exposing Mel as a fraud.

Can Mel solve this head twister of a mystery, and save her reputation, before it claims her as well?

In the book that spawned the beloved movie The Parent Trap, nine-year-old Lisa from Vienna—bold, with a head of curls—meets Munich's buttoned-up Lottie at summer camp. Soon, a newspaper clipping tells the tale: they're identical twins, Lisa living a colorful, big-city life with her father while Lottie keeps house with their gentle mother. Why have their parents separated? And how can they get to the bottom of the mystery? They decide to switch hairstyles, manners, and addresses—and that is where the adventure begins.

Erich Kästner (1899–1974), a German author, was well known for his poetry and prose. He received wide acclaim for his much-loved books for children, Emil and the Detectives and Lisa and Lottie.

20 of 20 people found the following review helpful. A great read-aloud book By Stuart Cooper I first discovered this book whilst searching for novels to serial-read to my class (I am a primary school teacher.) Having seen the original 'Parent Trap' and read 'Emil' as a boy, I felt Lottie and Lisa would be good to try. With one exception (a class containing mostly angry, macho boys), all my classes have enjoyed it, even loved it. Most children have seen the Parent Trap (sadly, most never saw the Hayley Mills version), and they are intrigued by the comparison in plots and characterisation. The reference to Shirley Temple and the double standards of American censorship at the time leave them puzzled, as does the excitement at the prospect that, when the busload of new girls arrives at the holiday home, 'one of them might have a ball (to play with'). Explaining to them that this book was written shortly after WW2 when toys were in short supply in Germany, helps them understand.WARNING: Any teacher reading this to a class of 8-12 year olds, be ready - Chapter 9 is an emotional minefield: I've noticed my voice getting shaky towards the end of it. Just letting you know.

16 of 16 people found the following review helpful. I am SO STUPID By Bonnie Perkins I read this book as a ten-year old and it stuck with me for what has been the next seventeen years. Warm, wonderful, very charming. The ORIGINAL, BEST and should have been the ONLY version of the Parent Trap. I wish I had known that this book would be largely forgotten, I would have held on to my copy to share with my own kids.

9 of 10 people found the following review helpful. interesting to compare with the two Disney movies By A Customer After seeing a good movie based on a book, do you like to read the book? So do I! That's why I read Erich Kastner's novel, translated under the title of "Lisa and Lottie." Lisa lives with Daddy, who is an opera conductor in Vienna. Lottie lives with Mommy, who is employed by a periodical in Munich. When they meet, there is none of the feuding which we see in both of the Disney movies. (Kastner was imprisoned by the Nazis for his pacifist convictions. He might have disapproved.) The girls take a trip to town and have their picture taken. The photographer makes an extra copy and sends it to the periodical in Munich as a curiosity. At the end of the camp season, the girls make the switcheroo. They exchange messages by General Delivery until Lottie meets Cruella's counterpart. The shock renders Lottie bed-ridden, so Lisa stops receiving messages. About this time, the news is slow in Munich. The editor shows Mommy the photograph of the twins and asks her to write a caption. Mommy realizes the truth and presses Lisa for an explanation. Lisa says that they have been exchanging letters, but she hasn't received any in a while. Mommy correctly infers that Lottie is ill. So Mommy and Lisa take a trip to Vienna, and voila! The book is a short children's novel, and I was able to read it in three hours. It's not nearly the tear-jerker that the movie is, but it was nice and entertaining. Incidentally, didn't Annie and Hallie both say that their birthday was October 14? That must have been for a touch of authenticity!

Count on None the Number and the #1 New York Times bestselling artist of THE DAY THE CRAYONS QUIT to guide young readers from 0 - 10 and back again! "Is none a number?" you might ask. I'm glad you did. The answer is Yes! For example, how many lumps of cheese do you see next to you? The answer, depending on where you are, is likely "none." Counting with the reader all the way up to ten, the Hueys explain numbers as only they can. The number 4 is the number of tantrums thrown by Kevin every day. 7 is the number of oranges the Hueys have balanced on things. And 9 is the number of seagulls who attacked Frank's French fries. Together they make quite a spectacle. But when you take away all of these fun illustrations in the book? You're left with none! This funny and accessible counting book from #1 New York Times bestseller Oliver Jeffers gives the Hueys one more reason to be every young child's best friends.Praise for The Hueys In: None the Number“Delightfully droll and enlightening. The illustrations . . . are deceptively simple and ridiculously funny. Jeffers’s persuasive lesson will have readers counting up to 10 using 11 numbers.” —School Library Journal

Review JEFFERS, Oliver. The Hueys in None the Number: A Counting Adventure. illus. by Oliver Jeffers. 32p. (The Hueys: Bk. 3). Philomel. Jul. 2014. K-Gr 3– The Hueys are back to teach readers the value of an often-ignored number. Delightfully droll and enlightening, the unconventional Jeffers reveals the importance of the number zero. To make this point, one of the pill-shaped Hueys counts up to ten, giving examples along the way: “SIX fishermen waiting for the bus./SEVEN oranges I balanced on some things yesterday.” And, he makes it clear, when you take away all those items, what do you have left? None. And, none is the same as zero. The illustrations, “made with pencils and a bit of color” on large white pages, are deceptively simple and ridiculously funny. This counting book becomes a “seek and find” when all the not-so-obvious objects that have been enumerated are scattered across two pages. An afterword by the author about “none” appears on the back cover--though it will be unreadable if the dust jacket is left on. Jeffers’s persuasive lesson will have readers counting up to 10 using 11 numbers.--School Library Journal

5 of 6 people found the following review helpful. Charming and effective By J.Prather I have enjoyed all of Oliver Jeffers' Hueys books, however I think this latest entry in the series is my favorite. Jeffers' signature little jellybean characters are back and filled with as much charm as ever. This title gives a unique look at numbers due to it's emphasis on the concept of none. Artistically, it makes a lot of sense for this series when you examine Jeffers brilliant use of so much white space to help young readers focus on the important concepts. From an educational standpoint, this is a great choice for young readers learning their numbers. The items on each number spread are all easy to count, the number itself is large, and the number word is featured prominently on each page. The concept of addition is addressed when we travel from one to two, and at the end when we reach ten, everything is taken away with a poof and we arrive back at none. This is not your standard count the apples fare. We get to count four temper tantrums that Kevin throws every day and nine seagulls that are after Frank's french fries. The rest are all just as whimsical, with plenty of humor and enough quirky details to delight young readers into many re-reads. How Jeffers does this while still maintaining his minimalist style is a bit of a mystery.None the Number is a fine choice for any young reader learning numbers and counting basics. Those who are already familiar with the Hueys will love seeing them again, and those who haven't met these delightful little creatures will certainly enjoy this introduction. None the number is a must have for any toddler and preschool collection.

The Cost of All Things, by Maggie Lehrman

From School Library Journal Gr 8 Up—The premise of Lehrman's debut is quite intriguing. Unfortunately, the novel does not deliver due to stereotypical characters and a story that turns convoluted very quickly. There are those who practice the art of "hekame" which allows them to cast spells to erase a person's memories, make them beautiful, or even help them hook friends forever. The story is told in the four voices of friends Ari, Kay, Win, and Markos. Win has recently died and Ari, his girlfriend, decides to spend $5,000 on a spell to erase all of her memories of Win. As she soon discovers, for every action there is a reaction. Though she dreamed of becoming a prima ballerina in New York, Ari begins suffering from physical clumsiness that prevents her from dancing—a direct side effect of the spell to erase her memory. Readers also learn that Markos, Kay, and Win have also purchased spells that affect them and their relationships with their family and friends. The theme that everyone is responsible for their own actions is redolent here. VERDICT Skip this novel and read E. Lockhart's We Were Liars (Delacorte, 2014) instead, which carries this theme to a much more satisfying end.—Elizabeth Kahn, Patrick F. Taylor Science & Technology Academy, Jefferson, LA

Review “An engrossing, emotionally resonant spin on the old adage: Be careful what you wish for.” (Kirkus Reviews)“Lehrman’s prose pulses with dark emotion…and the steady desperation of her characters is both disturbing and compelling.” (Publishers Weekly)“A memorable debut, one that reminds readers to be careful what they wish for, because, yes, they may just get it.” (Booklist)“The most creepily awesome cautionary tale ever. Magic—or hekame—does exist, and wishes can be granted...but always at a cost. Brilliant, provocative, and absolutely spellbinding.” (Lauren Myracle, New York Times bestselling author of The Infinite Moment of Us)“Maggie Lehrman nimbly reveals secrets wrapped around our most basic need. The Cost of All Things is a walk of the soul.” (Rita Williams-Garcia, Coretta Scott King Author Award Winner)“With a captivating premise, elegant writing, and memorable characters, The Cost of All Things is a powerful examination of the interconnectedness of the human experience.” (Franny Billingsley, author of the National Book Award Finalist Chime)“In The Cost of All Things, Maggie Lehrman spins a gorgeous and intricate web of secrets, love, loss, and redemption. This is a deeply moving and insightful novel from an incredible new voice.” (Coe Booth, acclaimed author of Tyrell)

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. All Magic Comes With a Price By E. J Watkins Not all magic can be free of repercussion, which is the moral of the debut novel by Maggie Lehrman "The Cost of All Things."When Ari's boyfriend Win dies, Ari does something impulsive and rash (like most teenagers) and takes a spell to erase any memory of him. Told through four character's perspectives (Win (told through flashbacks), Kay, Ari, and Markos), the novel deals with the complexities of how our decisions affect those around us. While yes most of these characters are flawed, they are also real. There were times that I was reading the book where I recognized some of myself in Markos or even pieces of Kay which drew me into the story even more. Without giving too much away, the climax in the hardware store near the end of the novel, gives us a glimpse into why the main characters have acted they way they have, and shows the reader that even in the most dire situations, you can change. This is a strong debut from Lehrman who draws from the Young Adult genre while adding something new and magical to the canon. I cannot wait to see what other stories she has to tell.

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Not Harry Potter magic, something more real. By J. Rife Unusual book to me. It uses magic to dramatize how the individual choices we make impact many. The book follows a group of young people in a time when you can buy a magic spell to make things better, in this case, to forget traumatic deaths, to make one pretty or popular. But the wishes all impinge on each other, leading to a dramatic ending.

0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. An evocative, intriguing debut about how one mistake can lead to a chain of reactions. By Dark Faerie Tales Review courtesy of Dark Faerie TalesQuick & Dirty: An evocative, intriguing debut about how one mistake can lead to a chain of reactions.Opening Sentence: There’s a hemakist who lives in the run-down cluster of houses behind the high school. The Review:Ari’s boyfriend Win died. So she does what many do in hard times – she takes a spell from a Hemakist. She forgets him, she forgets her pain, but it sets off a chain reaction that changes the lives of everyone she knows. Suddenly, her friendships are unraveling, she can no longer dance, and her life seems to be falling apart. Revelations and romances bloom in this twisty, evocative novel. Each one of the five points of views played a large part in this story. That was part of why I liked it so much – the characters were all unique, and showed a lot of complexity under their public facade. There was depth to each of them from the start, and part of what made this novel so interesting is watching as they evolve. We saw them at their best. But we also saw them at their worst – they were flawed, they were imperfect – that was what made them so realistic and relatable. The writing had a flowing, evocative, almost melodic quality to it that made reading from these five points of view (Echo, Ari, Markos, Diana, and Kay) a breeze. There were plenty of different characters to talk about, but let’s go with Kay first. She was probably the character that made me feel the most, ironically – her name is Katelyn. Mine is Kaitlin. Anyway, she had spelled her two friends with a hook, which made it impossible for them to ditch her. While this is a horrible thing to do, it also proved the fragility of her self-esteem, and how deeply she was imprinted by her sister leaving without her to vacation the globe. She was my favorite character to watch develop, because she definitely had her ups and downs, and her emotions were so vivid. I think, in the end, she made sacrifices that overcame the other girls, even though she had made some of the worst mistakes.Markos was our one male perspective in this novel and I think he stood out. On the outside, he’s a player, and he’s a party boy. But on the inside there is so much more going on. He feels that he has failed to reach his family’s expectations for him, which makes me sad and angry. To add to that, he’s having increasing feelings for a girl that he never wanted to fall in love with. It’s a relationship that he knows he’ll end up screwing up, which, of course, makes the fallout happen so much quicker. Adding to that, his mother is hiding something that will have repercussions. Watching him navigate the precarious situations he was in was really interesting, and his character was one of my favorites. The other three characters were just as great, each of them a different story and with different issues. This was a really character-driven novel, and I loved the message that there is more to anyone that meets the eye. There were plenty of other messages, too – my English teacher would have a field day on this one. I think that the writing style was really gorgeous, and the plotline traveled really nicely. This was my first magical realism novel, having just discovered that this was a separate genre from fantasy (thanks, Mrs. Cullen!). The magical elements add to the plotline without overcoming it. I think that it’s worth a read and would recommend it for sure!Notable Scene:So much for making things right. So much for spells. They couldn’t be counted on when it mattered. Spells would always find a way to trick you, to use your weaknesses against you, to come up with the ugliest possible solution to your problem. They were blunt instruments – but then again so were planks and flames. Fists and hammers. So were words and kisses.FTC Advisory: Balzar + Bray/HarperTeen provided me with a copy of The Cost of All Things. No goody bags, sponsorships, “material connections,” or bribes were exchanged for my review.

AMAZING By Krystle I was a little skeptical at first because this isn't a well-known author, but I have to say I was thoroughly impressed with this book. It was exciting, adventurous and romantic! I guarantee anyone will like it. If you're a Twilight fan or Harry Potter fan, it is definitely for you! I've never finished a book so fast. Ahhh, if only it were real :P

A magical, mythical tale of self-discovery and love By YA Book Madness Blog I received this book as a gift.Isis is suffering from severe insomnia, the kind that is an all-consuming battle waged between sickness and health. Isis would kill to sleep but it haunted by the shadowed creature that plagues her nightmares, growing ever closer, eager to devour her. She’s so sick and extremely tired of what the insomnia is doing to her life, she decides to confront the demon lurking in the shadows and conquer her fears. What she finds there is not at all what she expected. In place of what she could only assume was a snarling monster is a beautiful, winged creature that appears to be about her age. The creature insists that Isis has done something nefarious, that she has crossed the line in her dreams to a forbidden realm and threatens her life is she refuses to leave. Isis can’t believe the boy, that would be crazy so they strike a wager. If the boy can prove to Isis that he’s real, she will never return to that magical place in her dreamworld, the one that sparks her insomnia. With that, the deal is sealed and Isis can only hope that her sleepless nights are over.Isis finds that her dreams are far more real than she ever could have imagined when the boy from her nightmares enrolls in her school. Unsettled and scared out of her mind, Isis is forced to accept the truth, the boy, David, is real and he doesn’t appear to be going anywhere anytime soon. Isis is swept up into a world of myth and magic as she and David grow closer and secrets are revealed. A crazy ex-boyfriend, ill-fated love, and a mystery you’ll never see coming, Creatura is a mythological adventure. The mythology is beautifully written, almost like a whimsical bedtime story. Full of wonder, love, enchantment, and breathtaking imagery. The story of the star and Deus is sigh-out-loud, giddy romantic and so passionate. Creatura (The Creatura Series Book 1), by Nely Cab

From a very early age, she felt like she didn't 't belong due to her father's disappointment that she wasn't a boy. Throughout her life, she suffers through abuse from a relative, her parent's divorce, a teen pregnancy, her sexual orientation, and discovering who she is.I liked the book and once again Storm shows she's not afraid to tackle any subject. I loved the message she conveys about finding yourself and being happy with who you are. There were a few typos, but other than that this is a great story.

I applaud her courage and candor as she details her years of suffering at the hands of supposed loved ones and state agencies By Rosalyn This book was a true sacrifice of the author-- pouring her soul into each page and disrobing her shame in the hopes that it will liberate others with similar accounts and empower them too to advocate for change in the child welfare system. I applaud her courage and candor as she details her years of suffering at the hands of supposed loved ones and state agencies. My heart both hurt for her and cheered for her as I read her metamorphosis from the little girl in the attic to the Butterfly--unbound and free.Congratulations Shandreka! They couldn't break you!

By kelly j. gardner As a former victim of the Foster Care system, I have a firsthand knowledge of what the author so bravely displayed in her book, so as I read her words it felt as though I was having a one on one conversation with her, which I feel would be very therapeutic to other victims as they can see that there are real people out here in the world that also share their same upbringing, background and similar experiences as well, which might in turn make them more willing to open up about their selves and seek counseling as well as the possibility of wanting to help others in the same situation. As I stated earlier, the author was so brave to open up and show her vulnerable side to the world which I find so refreshing as well as I see that it was step towards her overcoming her circumstances and eventually steps on the road to being healed with an ultimate goal of learning the value of one’s true self-worth…

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. We have to show empathy! By Temberly T. James The author really opened up herself and showed a level of vulnerability, I am not sure I would have been able.Shandreka took me on a journey that made me question my way of thinking. I realized (as continue to do each day) that we are nothing more than our life experiences strung together and these experiences shape how we react to different events, issues, conflicts as well as celebrations. In short- we all are going to react to things differently and even if I don't agree I should take a minute to try to understand where a person is coming from.I also realized that the Foster Care system is broken (like many other systems) in this country. It is extremely unfortunate that Shandreka was forced to endure all that she has, but I am so happy that God and the universe turned things around for her.
