Now that I have read this second one in his series, I feel I am so much better prepared for things that will happen down the road, and be able to correct any future marital problems before they crop up.This is not your normal advice book. And actually, that worked out great. His advice to newly wedded couples as well as soon-to-be newlyweds is dead on. His writing style is witty, insightful, and spoken in plain English - it really is like he is sitting there with you, helping you think things through, while helping you make sense of it all. Chapter 7, in dealing with the in-laws is especially perceptive - and hilarious. Everyone, male readers as well as the females will be able to identify with it.I highly recommend this book to anyone who is going through their first steps of marriage, and are trying to figure things out as they go. Funny, funny stuff.Jennifer S.

By Mark Anthony Waters I am always interested in what makes stuff work and as a kid would tear things apart to see what made them “tick”, unfortunately, I could not always put them back together. Sound familiar? Much like a marriage, they are easy to tear apart and many times hard to put back together. Samuel's book teaches us how stuff works before and after marriage and shows how to avoid some of the pitfalls. He has provided a “tool box” of knowledge and understanding of what makes us “tick”, but more important, how to fix what we have broken and torn apart. Excellent read.Mark Waters

Samuel Murphy tackles all the issues head on, no boxing gloves allowed. With great wit but reality, he gives good advice for those about to be married or just married. But I have to say it's more than the old, "Don't ever go to bed angry," cliche. Not a bad idea for those who've been married a long time to take a look either. Good job, Mr. Murphy.

They are hidden, but easy enough for a preschooler to find. I suggest it for the preschool and early kindergarten age, but after that would find it too simple.

Great book for the pre-K set By Cugel the Clever I bought this for my two-year-old, thinking that it would involve finding letters hidden in pictures and thus reinforce letter recognition in a fun way (no, I didn't spend a heck of a lot of time reading the description). Instead, there are a list of small pictures along the bottom of each double-page spread, each with a label, and with all starting with the same letter; the child must find each picture.Even though the pictures have labels, this is incidental in a sense, as the child could simply ignore them to find the pictures. This isn't really a drawback-- just don't expect this book to reinforce alphabetic or reading skills by necessity when doing the searches. That said, I plan to have my early-reading son sound out many of the words when working each picture-find.The difficulty of finding each item varies. Some are out in the open, so to speak, and some hidden in a more difficult way.The pictures are fun, whimsical, and in color. I am highly pleased with the visual appeal of this book. My son also likes it a good deal.

There's a ton of special deals and special options for military folk visiting Disney World, many with complicated eligibility and/or execution rules. Steve's book is a great help in sorting these out, and also includes chapters on dining, the parks, hotels, and everything else! The perfect book for military families thinking about going to Disney World.

Learned for the first time that there were good size hotel discounts on Disney properties other than SOG which we had stayed at before & are planning a visit to again. This is a nice one-stop reference for rides, restaurants & park flow. Drawback on Kindle version is lack of chapter bookmarks but content very good.

I purchased this book for my daughter and son-in-law, he is in the Air Force. Before I gave it to them I read it cover to cover and found it full of helpful, useful information, tips, etc., for anyone planning a trip there. As often as we have gone as a family, sometimes up to 4 -5 times a year, I found out about events, hotel tips, that I had never known about. This book is wonderful...Thank you!

Great book for those who like the Percy Jackson books By GSMarlene Joshua and the Lightning Road is a wonderfully imaginative adventure filled with family love, best friends, a new world, and frightening beasts. And, of course, horrible bad guys! Everything a middle grade reader will love.Joshua is a bit of a misfit as he and his grandfather move often, but now he’s got a best friend. Until lightning strikes and his buddy Finn disappears! The only way to save Finn seems to be to beg the lightning to strike again and take Joshua. He arrives in a horrible world, the Lost Realm of Nostos, where the ancient Greek gods have withered and become powerless, but magic still exists. Those who wield it kidnap children from Earth to be their slaves and all the new arrivals are auctioned off to work in the realms of the now-uncaring old gods.Joshua can’t find Finn, but he quickly befriends another boy and makes some gut-felt choices in whom to trust. This sets him onto a life-threatening adventure where he learns of his family’s connection to Nostos.The story is well-told, sure to be a favorite of Percy Jackson fans, with a bit of Harry Potter thrown in. The monsters are well written and truly scary - on land, in water, and flying through the air. The connections to Greek myth are cool and interesting.From a writing perspective, the book could have used another round of editing focusing on showing versus telling, adding more description, and watching for a few punctuation, pronoun, and head-hopping issues. The beginning is a little confusing – we don’t know the mc’s name for several pages. And it’s not necessary to use “then” quite so often, the reader knows it happens next.But then we get bacon beer and all is forgiven! I enjoyed meeting the characters and expect them to be back in another book. I’m sure kids who enjoy adventures, especially in magical worlds, will read quickly and want more.I received this book in exchange for a fair review. My rating is 3.5 stars, which I’ll round up to 4.

Joshua's grandfather needs to run out for a minute, and he tells them to come inside and stay away from the windows. Unfortunately, when rules get broken- bad things happen. When Finn is snatched through the window by a hand from the sky, Joshua doesn't know what to do, other than taunt the hand so it grabs him too. The world where they wind up is riddled with fallen gods, goddesses, and lots of old magic. Joshua has no idea how to navigate the strange land, and it gets worse when he and Finn are separated. He needs to find his friend and get back home. But the children in this land are slaves and, they're worked to the bone. Joshua and his new friend, Charlie, are sent to into the service of Hecate, a most wicked boss. On his quest to find Finn, Joshua must travel the Lightning Road, and he encounters a “child collector” whose job is to steal children and make sure they can’t escape. He also must battle creatures that he's never even heard of before. It turns out there's more to his own family than he ever knew. Can Joshua figure out who he is, and what has really been happening all his life? Will he ever find Finn? Is there any way to get back to his home? You'll have to read this mythological tale to find out!Joshua and the Lightning Road by Donna Galanti is a book that I would recommend to anybody who enjoys mythology. Joshua is a character that kids and adults will be able to relate to because he's brave, scared and stubborn. These are qualities most of us demonstrate at one point or another. I like the way that myths were interwoven into the story. Kids who don’t know a lot about mythology will still be able to enjoy and understand the story, but those who know more will have an added bonus. People who like a lot of action and adventure will be thrilled with the battle scenes, which are scary, but not too scary. I like the themes of friendship and family that run throughout the book, as well as honesty and building trust. The book is fast paced and intriguing. I was satisfied with the way the story ended. I look forward to reading the next book in the series and finding out what happens next!

Together with his new friend, Charlie, they escape their work quarters only to find themselves on the Lightning Road in the face of a frightening "child collector" and beasts scarier than anything they could have imagined. Joshua must find courage he never knew existed to face the battle of his life against the fallen Greek Gods in the Lost Realm of Nostos. Will he have what it takes to rescue the kidnapped children and return them to earth?Galanti creates a vivid mythological world with plenty of action that will keep the attention of the reader. At times terrifying, Joshua and the Lightning Road also touches on more heartwarming aspects like friendship and what it really takes to make a family. A solid recommendation for the fantasy, adventure fan.
