He meets Tom, a mature Silicon Valley techno-futurist executive who challenges his understanding of power, sex, and even death as the two enact a problematized, self-aware sexual scene of racialized fetishization and domination. Our fourth story is told by Jaime, a perfectionist high school senior and virgin seeking to escape the constraints of her judgmental parents through an ongoing hook up buddy relationship with classmate Ian. Ian rapes Jaime, sexually traumatizing her and leaving her with even more questions about her own sexuality and desire. This piece is graphic and disturbing, and we choose to include it as an unflinching commentary on the pervasive sexual violence experienced by far too many. The final short in I've Never Done this Before is narrated by Michael, a Taiwanese American grad student at a small liberal arts college in the Midwest. Michael has secured his intellectual hero, renowned philosopher Dr. Miriam Lenard, as the faculty advisor to his research, and the charmingly intimate intellectual relationship between the two develops in ways that cause both of them to rethink their understandings of gender, desire, sex, and betrayal.

Millennial Sex: I've Never Done This Before (Volume 1), by A. Lea Roth, Nastassja Schmiedt About the Author A. Lea Roth and Nastassja Schmiedt are the creative duo Phoenix Moment. The two come from very different backgrounds—Lea grew up in Minnesota, and Nastassja was raised in Miami—but they hit it off immediately when they met at a national LGBT organizing conference in 2012. Both students at Dartmouth College, the two began dating, and started to interweave their organizing, academic interests, and personal lives. The two became activists in the movement to end violence in higher education. After leaving school, Lea and Nastassja were inspired to create their own social enterprise to imagine alternatives to the current state of higher education and co-founded Spring Up, a multimedia activist collective creating a space of learning and healing. They are also the curators of Global Portals and the Imagine a World Campaign, and co-host the Phoenix Moment Podcast. Intimacy has been forgotten and relationships based on mutual respect seem to have gone by the wayside. We need to put human understanding back into the formula and remember consent is always needed and not having it is NOT an option. This book explores all of those issues and renews my faith in the fact that it isn't too late for millennials or anyone to relearn how to have health and sex positive relationships based on mutual desire and consent. Yaaay, Erotica is alive again and romanticism flows hand in hand. Kudos to the authors for a work of art well needed, appreciated and longed for. If you miss it, you'll be sorry. There is something we all can learn especially if you didn't know who, why, or how to ask in the comfort of your own privacy. I anxiously look forward to the next one. I read it in record time...a real page turner.

It is a collection of stories in which each are so interesting and special while the dynamic of the characters and their situations make you want to keep reading until you've finished all of them. It's a great means of talking about sexuality and exploration through sexuality that we can all probably relate to at some level. It's insightful in this way all while continuing to be enjoyable and entertaining. It is an erotic book but each story is filled with such complexities that it becomes more than that, engaging your senses and emotions. Through great writing you begin to take a journey with the characters and experience with them as well. Lastly, the book is very educational and the authors weave in sex education as well as current social topics and issues in a seamless way.Overall amazing read!

Phenomenal, powerful, educational By Ally Brockmann What is so enticing about this book is that the characters are complex and unapologetically flawed, making them inherently relatable. Each story not only explores relationships and sex in a unique way, but also pulls in a variety of current issues (eg. climate) in a seamless way. The additional educational version allows this to be accessible for all ages and I would encourage everyone to explore these fascinating individuals' lives in the hopes of gaining a broader perspective.
