There are three stories in this one and the author suggests it is for ages 4 - 9.The threes stories are: 'Maisey and Casper', 'Legendary Valley of Bamboo' and "The City of Cats'. Each of them illustrate the value of working together for a goal and one emphasizes that being different can be good.I love books for children that contain teaching moments and in this book there are several opportunities available. There are 'big' words such as 'reassuring, solution, reaction and shattered' that may require an explanation to the younger ones. I also thought that in the ;Legendary Valley of Bamboo' that perhaps a little one might question the reason that the bamboo is disappearing. And, of course, the poaching of the beautiful pandas.So, cooperation with others, being different is OK and an increase in the vocabulary of the little ones are all contained in this one. Doesn't get much better than this in a short book, does it? The pictures are beautiful in this book, too.Most highly recommended.

Pictures are as sweet as the stories therein. I always find a constructive teaching on each of Francois Bissonnette books. Cooperation is the main theme across this particular book. Animal Stories can facilitate teaching a small child the benefits of working together even when unlikely partners must team up. It also teaches about caring for one another and the positive results it might bring. The stories are charming and suitable for small children. I want to stress a point that these stories are not only cute but it can be a good influence on a child. Something struck me as I was writing my comments. We adults forget how easily coworkers, partners and family, having a different point of view can get disconnected yet we achieve great things when we all pull together, in cooperation to get things done.

By Nina This book covers what parents should and could do to help their children succeed, from their baby years to young adults, which is a long process. Obviously, what happens in a kid's childhood will affect his/her entire life. Therefore, motivating your child should start when he/she is still a little baby. How to identify whether the kid is highly or lower motivated? How to find out his/ her strengths? How to reward the kid wisely? How to handle the teens? How to motivate the young adults? The answers to all above questions are available in this book. Each stage in a child's growth requires different motivating methods. It is not an easy task for parents to bring up the children to good adults. This book is to help parents with that sacred duty. I learn a lot from it.

I have I year old son and I know I’m too early for this but I need to prepare.As a parent we play the most important role in our child’s life and motivating them is one of our duties.The book introduced different ways on motivating children simple but I think really effective.It also discussed how to know the root of a child’s problem when it comes to presenting their self to others and self-esteem issue.This book really gave a big impact making me understand parenting more.

We have fallen guilty of buying presents as a reward which after a while loses its affect. Although it is obviuos now, it was not until this book spelt it out for us that one of the best rewards is the emotional reward of praise.

Opening just before her senior year of high school, Elena relates her experiences in and out of treatment facilities in often stark detail. A rigidly self-disciplined overachiever, the author is critical, both of herself and those around her, and some readers may find her overly judgmental. Because the book only focuses on several periods when she relapsed, it often leaps forward several years, giving it a disjointed feel, and many figures in Elena's life are underdeveloped. However, this young author displays promise. Written in the present tense, her narrative presents an almost frantic sense of immediacy that is well suited to the subject matter, as Elena describes difficult therapy sessions, her sometimes strained but always loving relationship with her mother, friendships with other patients, and events in her life that contributed to her disorder. Her need to be skinny and appear perfect overtakes every other aspect of her life. When she’s in high school, Elena is hospitalized for her eating disorder, but that doesn’t stop her --- she doesn’t eat the food she’s given and she checks her makeup constantly. Even though she is far from cured, she is released and continues on with her life. Striving to be the perfect daughter, Elena works hard in everything she does. She thrives off of the compliments and envy of others. However, this doesn’t erase the memory of the other daughter --- Elena’s older, runaway sister, Valerie. It also doesn’t erase the memory of the tragic event that happened to Elena when she was only 13-years-old --- the event that started her quest to be perfect.Elena continues this quest when she goes on to college. Unfortunately, her eating disorder, hard class schedule and several jobs keep Elena constantly exhausted. When she’s fired from her job as an RA, Elena feels like her life could not get any worse. However, when another tragic event happens, Elena spirals downwards. She goes in and out of hospitalization, and the goal of living a normal, healthy life seems to slip farther and farther away. This book was difficult to read, but I stuck with it! My eyes and heart have been opened! As I began reading, I wondered, “Are Elena’s perceptions true?” I wondered if she had witness accounts or documented incidents to show the true happenings of the contention and actions taken against her. I wasn’t sure if her perception had been swayed by the stress she was under.Elena’s pregnancy, and subsequent miscarriage, led her to seek treatment. Caring for another being is what helped pull her up from rock bottom.I appreciate Elena sharing her experiences and her mother for helping bring everything together! This book can and will help a lot of people who struggle with a disorder, regardless of whether it is an eating disorder or something else. Elena Vanishing will also help the family, friends and acquaintances surrounding the sufferer. Highly recommended!

The book, a collaboration between mother and daughter, is very well written and provides great insight into how an eating disorder affects not only the person who has it, but that person's family and friends as well. The afterword of the book provides information on who to contact for help if you have, or know someone who has, an eating disorder. I highly recommend this book to everyone, especially teens.Note: I received a free copy in exchange for an honest review.

The characters are multidimensional and complex, and the author meticulously maintains each of their own particular voices and vernacular throughout the entire novel.While this book is easy to read, the content is by no means simplistic; it is a psychosocial study of the evolution of a young boy's self-image and the reactions of those with whom he comes in contact. It deals with shyness, bullying, tenderness, friendship, and even a budding romance. Adults can relate to having had one or more of these experiences during their teen years; teenagers can relate to them now.The historical details and venue descriptions so accurately portray the zeitgeist of that particular time and place that I was nostalgically transported back in time to neighborhoods, events, and a culture I knew so well as a child.It has been said that what makes a novel most memorable is the frequency the characters are thought about after the novel is read. I find myself thinking about them often, and wondering what the rest of their lives would have been like had the story continued or had the author chosen to take different paths.For people who like to get lost in a novel, "Mud Castle Destiny" is a must read.Dr. Ostrov's superb opus is a unique legacy that his children and grandchildren will cherish for the rest of their lives.Phyllis Eisenstadt

The imagery and the detail is all there from front to back. Alvin Luther has done an outstanding job on his first novel and my son and I hopes he continues to write more. Mystic Claw is a strong story that is told well. It rolls out in a way that creates suspense, and the ending provided an excellent cliffhanger that got me and my son excited for a second book in the series. The language in a couple of chapters was a little stilted. But, WOW, the characterization was great and Mystic Claw has opened my eyes to a host of new people that I haven't ever read before in literature. Not a cookie-cutting storyline like most genres. PLEASE ALVIN LUTHER GIVE ME BOOK TWO!!! of Mystic Claw.

From School Library Journal Gr 8 Up—These titles strip Shakespearean plays of Elizabethan language and iambic pentameter, rendering modern retellings utilizing text slang littered with emojis. Content-wise, the authors remain true to the original story lines with no major omissions. Stylistically, the format has inherent strengths and weaknesses. Students will immediately understand "Rosencrantz and Guildenstern have checked into Elsinore Castle" and this quite literally sets the scene. Yet, the reality of texting is that people are not face-to-face; thus, the text narrative format creates some clumsily contrived situations. For example, Romeo and Juliet arrive at the church to marry, and then precede to text their love to each other. Visualizing Romeo and Juliet together at the chapel, heads down texting, may cause readers to LOL, and as attempts at satire, these books definitely succeed. There is no shortage of WTF, STFU, and the like, yet F*ck is listed in the glossary (to define said shortcuts for adult readers unfamiliar with text-speak, one assumes). Students will no doubt recognize the many emojis, although Friar Laurence's use of an emoji representing a smiling pile of excrement is a bit much. This series raises an interesting question: what would Shakespeare's plays look like in today's world? Having students already familiar with the Bard's work compose text- and emoji-style retellings would make for a fun assignment. It was fun and easy to read By Paige Bradish I received SRSLY Hamlet by William Shakespeare + Courtney Carbone from the publisher and this is my honest review.I recently reviewed another book in this series called, YOLO Juliet and I loved it. It was fun and easy to read. SRSLY Hamlet was much of the same thing. One of my favorite parts of this book was in the beginning where the book shows us the Emoji’s as those who are in the book, and then on the next page it shows us people with no pictures because they do not have smart phones. I thought that was extremely cute.I had never read Hamlet before this, but I knew what the jist of it was. Any teacher would probably have a heart attack if they knew this was the version I chose to read. But I think it was a cute version to read, I got what the story was about, it made me laugh, and smile quite a bit which I was not expecting. When I said yes I was a little skeptical because Shakespeare is usually required for school I never felt the need to read it outside of school. But this version was entertaining and I am glad I got the chance to read it.

The emojis and hashtags are funny and used creatively. The soliloquies are amazing! It's a quick read and I hope they publish more! I would not read these as an alternative to the book, but I could see this being helpful (to read along side) when I was in school.

I finished it in about 20-30 minutes, and it gives a great quick overview of Hamlet. For a student assigned Hamlet, I would definitely recommend reading this first to get an idea of what Hamlet is all about. And it is such a fun book. Excellent.
