By Cab It's such an exciting, fast-paced storyline, and in the middle of it is this very interesting guy named Shade Salazar. I love that he's already a magician at the beginning, but has to put his life on the line to discover what his powers really are. I really love the twists that Legge has added to the Norse mythology he's drawing from. Lots of familiar names in unexpected roles, surprises right up to the last page, and this funny, unpredictable young man right in the middle of it. Beware, this one is a page-turner. Be prepared to stay up late reading it. I can't wait to find out what happens next in Shade's Midgard.

Shade Salazar by TJ Legge Brings to Readers New Worlds of Magic and Fantasy By Amazon Customer Shade Salazar and the Last Magician of Midgard by TJ Legge is one of the most exciting books I have ever read. It is so hard thinking about it not to give away the many surprises woven into this story. It was a thrilling read for me from the beginning to the end. I know readers need to experience this fantasy world for themselves by reading this book to understand what I mean. The book follows Shade and a group of teen adventurers into a world of magic and fantasy similar to the Harry Potter or the Lord of the Rings series of which I have read every one and watched all the movies. I believe the name of Shade may someday be as well known as Harry among fantasy readers. This book also reminds me of the Marvel Avenger books and movies of which I am a big fan.

This book kept me up late at night. :) Teens who enjoy the Harry Potter, Percy Jackson, or Michael Vey series are apt to love this Shade Salazar book. It's a satisfying blend of reality and fantasy, pop culture, magic, adventure, action, sword fighting, main characters 9 to 16 years old (with adults too), a lot of travel, real issues and feelings facing youth, imagery, beautiful nuggets of wisdom, horse racing, etc. The reading level is comparable to the average Newberry novel, and to me, this book could win a Newberry or an ALA award.
