Anthony describes the differences between b By Mike Joplin Homemade Muscle is clearly inspirational. After reading it, you will have no excuses.Although the whole book is worth reading and contains valuable (usable) information, the first four chapters are exceptional.Chapter Four (What You Need To Know About Strength Training) is my favorite chapter. Anthony describes the differences between building strength and hypertrophy when doing body-weight training. He 'thoroughly' explains (among other things) what reps, sets, rest, and frequency to use to build strength and hypertrophy – and in what order. It is the best explanation that I've read on these topics, and I have over 300 fitness books in my personal library.This is definitely a five star book.

I had been t-boned by a motorcyclist speeding excessively. I sustained six broken ribs, fluid in the lungs, an injured spleen, and more. It took 4 months to recover, and the experience was excruciatingly terrible on so many levels. Like the author here, I am a lifelong athlete. I played competitive sports like Ice Hockey, and I made a career of my love for sports by teaching physical education. I also lived in Greece for a couple years when I was young, so I can relate to the lovely weather and ability it provides for an active lifestyle. So when I found out what this book was about and the story of the author, I knew I had to read it as I was struggling to get back on my feet and back to exercising.The courage it must have taken for the author to write this is unreal. The shear detail of the accident and recovery is mind numbing. I was captivated as I read the story, and I felt like I was there. But the way he persevered and decided to move forward is inspiring. Having been through a life altering accident myself, his courage gave me some courage and made me feel not alone. Then to read about the project he created to help people be healthy was even more inspiring. Here is a guy who could have drowned in his sorrows, and he decided to turn it into a positive.By the time I got to the portions on exercise, I already felt I was in trusting hands. The layout of the book is great. The way the chapters build on each other lets you slowly understand the points being made. Each idea builds on the next. Also the thoroughness of the information is amazing. For example, the section on the gym vs. home workouts makes the case for home so well. The book is easy to read, yet very informative. There are points I would not have considered. Every conceivable aspect of exercising at home is discussed. It really explains the how, why, what, and when of how to get fit at home. As some one who also has joined gyms only to not use them, the notion of exercising at home is new to me. This book shows it is possible. Beyond that, the book gives you applicable workouts to get stated.In addition to the book, the website is a great tool. On there are videos, some of which are chapters in the book. Plus you can subscribe and get a free workout plan.Even if you have not experienced a major trauma like this author, you can learn so much from this book. From life perspective and lessons to practical tips on how to get fit at home, this book is a winner just like the author.

By zourab Well I've read more than 100 books during the last couple of years of my life and to be honest I am very selective when it comes to choosing books to read. That means, I read only influencial books that can give you not only theory but a step by step practical application as well, books that literally can change your mindset and ultimately your life so you can achieve your dreams, become a better version of you and one day wake up as a different person, a superior one who never looks back.Today I came across to the "HomeMade Muscle: Strong & Lean Without going to the Gym" by Anthonny Arvanitakis and what I liked most in this book is that Anthony walks his talk. This is what sets him apart of the crowd and we all know that these days you can rarely find authors who practice what they preach. Period!I admit that this is not only a motivational book but it also contains a step by step blueprint of exercises (videos included) you can do at home every single day. Plus even though Anthony is not a doctor, his life's experience gives him the permission to give you tips and advice when it comes to injuries and diet. To make the long story short this book contains everything you need to know to build a solid and healthy body without expensive gym subscriptions.The good news is that I put on 4 pounds of body mass within 30 days of applying what Anthony teaches. Wygant Nice to have fresh questions to work with after having mastered other sources intended for the Nat Geo Bee. Be warned that this is not an entirely accurate source. Some questions are poorly worded and some refer to areas that are named improperly. For the advance geographer, cross-referencing and using multiple sources will solve this problem to a certain extent.

Tight plot with numerous twists and surprises By Breeni Books David Michael Slater's Sacred Books series is likely to be the next to reach Harry Potter notoriety. The intricate storyline of the first book in the young adult series is filled with twists and turns that will stimulate young minds from the outset. It weaves magic and mystery into a tightly packed plot.We first meet Slater's adolescent protagonists, twins Daphna and Dexter, as they while away the summer months, preparing for their thirteenth birthday. Daphna, the book worm of the pair, has discovered a rare used book store, called the Antiquarian Book Center, to occupy her time. She's eager to share it with her book scout father, who can surely appreciate the magnitude of her discovery. As she guides him down the aisles of books on magic and the occult, she encounters some frightening revelations about the proprietors of the dusty shop.Daphna's father has a book he wishes to sell to the owner, Asterius Rash, but what he doesn't realize is that he's just given the old man an important tool to add to his arsenal of world domination. What Daphna originally believed to be a book of nonsense is actually written in an ancient language that bestows the reader with amazing power. The problem is, the book's been enchanted to prevent Rash from being able to read it. Consider the fact that he's also blind, and he's going to need the services of someone connected to the book's history to decipher the spells. Daphna and Dexter unknowingly fit the bill.Daphna and Dexter are two resourceful teens, as they soon find out. It seems everyone around them is hiding something, and they're going to have to put the pieces together and solve the mystery while saving their own lives. With the degree of subtle foreshadowing, the reader can stay one step ahead of the twins throughout most of the adventure. It's not so great that it spoils the element of surprise, however.There are a few loose ends left that I suspect will be tied up in future installments. The twins discover a mysterious stash of money that is left unexplained, and I'm not quite sure of how large a role the father plays in the history of the book. It doesn't seem logical that he would be the unassuming participant he's made out to be.Some alarmingly gruesome events transpire in the book. Daphna and Dexter are no stranger to death by the end of the novel. The two siblings are forced to face some serious truths about themselves and each other. But in the end, they're that much stronger for it.The Book of Nonsense launches straight into action from page one and refuses to relent throughout the story. Slater leaves no room for boredom or even down time, which will keep the reader glued to the pages. This type of book demands to be read in one sitting. It should be a hit with even the most selective readers.

I was swept away into a world of wonder, mystery and danger as I followed Daphna and Dexter trying to navigate a suddenly perilous world. Daphna and Dexter are fraternal twins whose personalities are as different as their physical appearance. Whereas Daphna is a bookworm and fancies herself to be very social even if not necessarily popular, Dexter is somewhat of an outcast both at home and in school. A day before the twins turn thirteen, their father returns from a book buying trip in Turkey(he is a book scout) with a very strange book. The book is frayed and damaged on the outside, with the inside seeming to contain a jumble of words that have no meaning or order.Daphna persuades her father that he would probably be able to offload this weird book at the new bookstore that was opened a few months back during his absence. She is horrified when she watches her father get hypnotized by the creepy shop keeper who takes the book away from him and tries to exact further payment in the form of Daphna going to work for him. Daphna sets out on a quest to reclaim the book and save herself, finding a surprising ally in her brother Dexter. So begins a very wild ride through town as the twins try to outsmart the villain and his minion.This book is excellent in capturing the personalities of its characters and displaying them in a realistic way that rings true. Daphna and Dexter's relationship is a perfect picture of sibling rivalry and petty jealousies. Each has a tendency to misunderstand even the best intentions of the other. I also thought it was very interesting the way that the author was able to show the attitude of youth to the aged without it being disrespectful or untrue.This book is a true find and I think that everyone will enjoy it regardless of age. Keep an eye out for the little clues, they will come back and mean more than you thought.This is book one in what I hope is going to be a very successful series.

Smith There’s a line from Nathaniel Hawthorne that reads, “Words—so innocent and powerless as they are, as standing in a dictionary, how potent for good and evil they become in the hands of one who knows how to combine them.” On its surface The Book of Nonsense is a young adult adventure story about twins who uncover and attempt to stop a centuries-old plot to unravel and re-form the world as we know it—through the discovery and use of the Words of Power from the First Tongue, the language that is rumored to have brought the universe into being. And this brings us to the core of The Book of Nonsense: It’s actually a meditation on the power of language. It’s both a cautionary tale about how the words and ideas contained in books can be warped and used for terrible harm in the wrong hands and a celebration of the way those same words have potential to do great things in the right hands. The problem, however, is that so many hands seem to be the wrong ones. The power of the First Tongue is not presented as something especially desirable, but rather something so strong that it can’t really be wielded with any guarantee of safety—even by those with the best of intentions. Potent for good and evil, indeed.While these may seem like heady thoughts, the adventures of Daphna and Dexter Wax do make the themes accessible and palatable to young readers by pitting the young heroes against at least two truly terrifying foes. Asterius Rash and his hulking assistant Emmet are drawn in grotesque lines, all gnarled joints and ruined eyes. Rash (even his name is gross) is driven by literally blind ambition, and Emmet is obsessed with his only lifelong goal, finally getting to kill someone. Rash uses the Words of Power as heavy weaponry to bend others to his distorted will—he is the personification of the ways power can corrupt.Daphna and Dexter, in contrast, are innocents, drawn into a situation that is well over their heads, but they have to make the best of things. While twins are generally supposed to be close allies, the Wax twins don’t really like each other and could not be more different. She’s a bookish goody two-shoes, and he’s engaged in mindless rebellion—but both are using these tactics to cover up deep insecurities that seem to only begin to heal when the unlikely pair joins forces. They become more likeable when they’re working together, and it’s easy to root for them to succeed.The plotting here is fast-paced but the way threads that seem insignificant eventually tie together is immensely satisfying. Efficient is the best word I can use to describe the plot—Slater packs several millennia’s worth of events into a densely packed timeline, but it never feels rush or as if events are getting short shrift. And while the outcome of the adventure is deeply poignant, as the first installment of a series, the ending strikes the balance of wrapping up just enough while leaving room for the adventure to continue.

But how you continue to love till the end is very difficult. Any love will end up with fight and conflict after the marriage. And I really like the chapter action plan. Wow!What can I say.Having been an avid fan of the Forest at the Edge of the World series since I read the first three last year, I was hungrily awaiting the release of the latest in the series "The Falcon in the Barn".And I must say, for fans of the series, this does not disappoint. (And if you do want to start reading this series, I recommend starting from the beginning).We finally also get answers for most of the questions that have plagued us for three books (who Shem really is, who are really the "Guarders" for example).I could go on for hours about this book (and at over 700 pages it did take a few hours to read), but suffice to say, this is the kind of book (and series) that inspires, and everyone should read it if they get a chance.

You must start at the beginning with The Forest At The Edge of the World or you will miss so much! Also plan huge chunks of time for reading. While the books are not all edge of your seat action and drama, Trish Mercer develops characters that you literally fall in love with and have to remind yourself that these are only book characters, not your friends, and that their lives will be there after the dishes are done or you wake up in the morning. I found myself laughing, crying, grieving, worrying and basking in victories with the characters. Mrs. Mercer is truly exceptional at creating stories that span years yet keeping the readers interested and without the smut that is so common nowadays. I can't wait for the next book!

By Jerry Sandoval Outstanding series, The falcon in the barn is the best one of the four previous series. So many questions are answered in this book that I had to re read the last chapter to remind me of questions I had of the first three books. Looking forward to the next book and the saga of the new adventures of the new world that Marhee and Perrin will encounter.
