The next pictures zoom out and they kids can see if they guessed right. Great for young children who love pictures of animals like mine.

From the Author What inspired the author to write this book?

Many things inspired me to write this book such as raising my two girls, seeing tons of princess-related items in the girls' aisles at toy stores, and meetingWh so many exceptional women. I felt it was time to bid farewell to the kingdom we live in and explore beyond the kingdom.

What do the author hope that children will learn from this book?

Media and literature are powerful influencers so, it is critical to expose to our children to stories that are underrepresented. This book has a strong theme underlying of remaining true to yourself regardless of what the society or majority thinks. It is okay to not follow the crowd and walk alone. It's tough to do that, but when you do that...the rewards are ten times more rewarding. As a Deaf person and an innovator, I've been through the road many times. Be bold, be who you are.

How did the author come up with the title Shay & Ivy Beyond the Kingdom?

Shay & Ivy are names of my two girls. Beyond the Kingdom is a metaphor that means many things to different people. Beyond the Kingdom is a barrier - something, be a situation or person or challenge, that's restricting us. We must find within ourselves the strength to go past that very kingdom. It also means another thing to me...Being a princess is almost every girl's dream, BUT we cannot forget our pilots, astronauts, scientists, and police who are women. Where are they in films? books? stores? The title Beyond the Kingdom gives the place for girls to explore past the kingdom to see what's out there.

Why did the author pick those particular occupations in the book?

When I had my first daughter, I set up an event called "The Pearls" to honor Deaf women across America. Since the establishment of The Pearls, 42 Deaf women have been awarded as Pearls - in 2011 and 2014. They are movers and shakers in their fields. Be it an artist, politician, writer, business owner, founder/president, and athlete. Each one hold a pearl within themselves - layered, dignified, and strong. So, when I began to write Shay & Ivy Beyond the Kingdom, some of the Pearls came to mind. Moreover, I've also checked online to see which jobs that women are not large in number. With these two in mind, that's how I came to selecting those particular occupations and putting them into this very book.

About the Author Sheena McFeely was born in Hong Kong to an Irish father and a Hong Kongese mother. Shortly after her parents' discovery of Sheena being Deaf, America called their names. Being the first in her family to go to college, Sheena graduated from CSUN with a BA in Visual Communications and will be receiving her MA in Sign Language Education this year. Sheena is known for founding ASL Nook, an online hub of ASL teaching webisodes, that has received acclaims from families and schools everywhere. If not for ASL Nook, her first children's book "Shay & Ivy Beyond the Kingdom" would have never happened.

An Intelligent Book for Young Inquiring Minds By Coralie L-J My 11 year-old daughter found this book, An Igloo on the Moon, fascinating not only because of the beautiful, sweet illustrations, but because it's packed-full of inspiring ideas about how buildings are built, and how different cultures in various parts of the world respond to environmental conditions. The information is intelligently written, presented in non-technical language, so no one gets flummoxed. The author skillfully condenses a potentially complex topic into easy-to-read, engaging chapters, where you can dip into it from time to time. The book is as appealing to a child, as it is to adults, who want to learn about different approaches to building houses. It's astonishing what I've learned reading the book myself. It makes an ideal first introduction to architecture. A wonderful gift for any young budding architects, the author knows how to connect with children and young people, without dumbing down the information. I highly recommend this fabulous book; it's different from anything else out there.

About the Author Kim Oates is a pediatrician who trained in Sydney, London, and Boston. By Everett At no doubt, this will definitely give kids a great point of view towards the rapture through the eyes of four teenagers who are experiencing it themselves. If your kid has questions, and confusions about the Rapture, the Left Behind Kids version is sure to have them understanding it, and also giving them a good story to think about for the near future, and of course, entertainment.Judd, Vicki, Lionel and Ryan think they know it all. None of them believe the gospel of Jesus Christ, and none believe in God. With Judd a running away from his parents, Vicki rebelling against her parents conversion, Lionel lying about being a Christian, and Ryan skeptisysing about his friends faith, the four will come together to realize there was more to life, and God that was there all the time, they just wouldn't take the time to believe it.I recieved the first book (which is the first four books in all) for my birthday, and was a little skeptical about them at first. A few months before I had started to read the adult Left Behind books, but to no avail for the fact that they were too old for me (I was twelve at the time). After re-discovering them a month later, I was hooked on them. Not only were they entertaining, but they gave an easy understanding towards the Rapture for kids.Even if adults have trouble understanding the Rapture and the end times, it'll provide an easy understanding, and have them (as I did) rexamine their faith through these books.An instant five stars. And remember, if you refuse to believe the Rapture, just make sure you have plenty of places to go afterwards, because there will be no place to hide.

I read it because it was hard to put down and the story intertwined the adult series books and stayed true to the original story line but from a teen's perspective. Just as reading about Narnia didn't teach me to talk to lions or watching sci-fi made me learn about quantum physics. If the book says it's " fiction " then sit back and enjoy the story.If you are searching for God, read the right book. It should be a reference or non-fiction genre.

14 of 18 people found the following review helpful. Good Book, stays true to Adult version of series By DaughteroftheKing I've read the adult series and enjoyed it. As a Christian who enjoys fiction writing I know it's sometimes not easy to separate fact from fiction. This book follows the "what if" principles of the Book of Revelation. It doesn't say that this is HOW it's going to happen, it gives a fictional perspective on how it plays out in the authors mind based on what the Book of Revelation says. Anyone who tries to tie the theology to it and make it into a "fact" is not reading the book for the story. That said, this series is really good for teens and does make a teen think about the "what if's" related to the Bible. Excellent Reading and a great page turner for the younger sect.
