1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. cannot recommend By JohnLA i returned this after getting about 10 pages in. i am wondering if this has been translated from another language? the writing was mistake filled and extremely general.it was so general that i felt i was reading one of my high school student's papers. the author made some very bold statements without giving specific credit to the studies he/she claimed regarding the findings. weird for a 'medical' book/paper.i am very interested in music therapy. this was going to be my first book on the subject.i will look elsewhere.

I appreciated the explanations of the different types of music therapy used. It is missing examples of these techniques are used clinically. Lastly, when using text to speech it reads the sources under the pictures so it would be nice to have a index of the credits rather than in the text.

Dover activity books are an inexpensive way to do that. My three year old grandson really likes tattoos, and for just a couple dollars, I can send him a few little books like this glow-in-the-dark tattoo selection. Nothing is more heartwarming than getting a follow-up phone call from an excited little boy who received some unexpected mail. The tattoos work well and he likes sporting funny looking owls and other Dover tattoos.I'm so glad Dover continues to make such a variety of fun little activity books for kids. Combined with Prime, it's an easy and inexpensive way to keep in touch. Gifts don't have to be expensive to mean a lot.

On each spread a reproduction covers at least one page with the remaining space used for the title, date, artist's name, a brief biography, and background on the artwork. It features a lot of paintings and art pieces that are not often seen, so the material is very fresh and relevant. Too many of these kids' art books show the same paintings over and over again, so this is a welcome change. The activities that the book presents in conjunction with each piece are unique and interesting, too. A great change of pace. The layout is great, the text is concise and informative without being too wordy, and the color prints of the artwork are a terrific size that spans two pages. BRAVO!

Stunning new fiction from an author at the top of his game By Catherine Cavendish I rarely read Young Adult novels but this one had me hooked from the start and kept me guessing right through to the end.The central character - Mel - is drawn with such authenticity I felt I knew her. Her confusion became my confusion, her fears my fears, and her emotional attachment to her father was both touching and yet unsentimental. Real.The sinister voice on the car radio - Jack - was both frightening and perplexing and, just when I thought I was working things out, BANG! The author hit me with a series of scary and almost surreal events that left me reeling in a truly satisfying way that is the product of an author at the top of his game.The Ridealong is not just a novel for Young Adults, it's a novel to be savoured and appreciated by all fans of horror, suspense and riveting reads. 5 stars from me any day of the week!

Like most of MBC's books, there's a couple of good unexpected twists: he zigs when you don't even know there's a corner coming. He takes a great premise, then twists it, and twists it again. I can't wait to get a physical copy to add to my library.

This novel grabbed my attention immediately, and its relentless pacing left no time for second guessing anything as it plunged ahead from scene to scene.Latham is a policeman, returning to work for the first time since a drug bust went wrong a month earlier, killing his partner and injuring him and another officer. His teenaged daughter, Mel, is especially close to him since her mother passed--leaving Latham to play both roles of mother and father. Mel insists on accompanying him on his first day back--what they refer to as a "ride along". Mel's fear of losing her father is so strong as to be almost tangible. She defines her own feelings: "Self-doubt: The primary expertise of teenagers everywhere. In between knowing we know everything, we're pretty sure we're complete asses about everything".A mysterious voice, referred to as Jack, comes across Latham's radio--instructing them that they must get to the bottom of what REALLY happened on that day a month ago, or risk the both of them going to jail...or killed.What follows makes for a chilling, mental, physical, and emotional race against the unknown. "...Sometimes movement--even blind, unthinking movement--is the only thing between you and despair. Sometimes motion is a kind of counterfeit hope."At the heart of this mystery and carnage lies the overwhelming love between a daughter and her father--a bond so strong that it breathes life into these characters--forcing the reader to see them as real people, and cement that connection throughout the novel.I was originally leaning towards a 4/4.5 star rating, but it wasn't until AFTER I'd finished the novel that all Collings' little, subtle touches came together completely for me. At that point, I decided this novel warranted a full five stars for the sheer genius in how all of these elements were crafted and brought into play. If I were to sum it up in one word, it was simply... "haunting"--haunting mentally and emotionally.This is one story that will refuse to leave you after you've read that final page.

Thus the world of Claire-Agon was created, though imagined would be just as an appropriate word to describe this Fantasy setting. Basing the world's evolution, magic, and history on a scientific foundation, the Claire-Agon books come alive to relate tales and stories from our not too distant neighbors orbiting Tau Ceti not twelve light years distant. The stories are inspired by past author greats, but written and moved forward by Mercer where he sincerely hopes that the stories delight and entertain the reader. He invites you to enter the world of Claire-Agon, and hopes you share with him your experience there. Salvador Mercer is fluent in English, Russian and Spanish, loves languages, history, reading and science. The protagonist is authentic, and his journey is surprising and action packed. There are several well written strong female characters. Mercer writes action and dialogue very well.I needed the next book immediately. I'm so glad this is a series - the world building is fantastic and I want to know more!

It is a great beginning for an ongoing series. The youthful protagonist is likable and has what it takes to develop a series following. I recommend the book.
