By Ignite If you’ve followed the exploits of Becky, Joe and their Uncle Percy you’ll know what a tangled plot Carl Ashmore is capable of weaving. I started this book wondering if he’d be able to pull it all out of the hat and I can safely say he really did. There are numerous world myths and legends which have crept into this five part tale and it’s the work of a patient and persistent author who has crafted it all into a coherent whole. We begin the story with Sir Walter Raleigh on the brink of his execution and he passes on a secret which finally Becky and her brother unravel. This brings them to the last of the Eden Relics – the Sacred Chalice. Their enemy Emerson Drake and his side-kick Otto Kruger are determined on world domination and look as if they will achieve it.This is an action-packed adventure and is suitable for all ages from teens upwards. I’ve enjoyed it all and one of the things which makes the series stand out is that it emphasises the power of loyalty, friendship and love. People can be cynical about these but they are the attributes that make our lives worth living. Carl Ashmore’s young people are totally believable and we all wish we’d had an Uncle Percy. The end of the book is the culmination of the series and it’s been a great ride. I heartily recommend it.I received a copy pre-publication for review purposes.

I've had SUCH a great time with Joe and Becky and of course, Uncle Percy! The supporting cast is great too- Will and the others. And the villains are almost too evil for younger kids. I love how Ashmore incorporates myth and legend and history into the stories. And I adore his writing style!!! I pretty much lost a long weekend speeding through the series of five books. I sometimes will re-read a book or series, especially if it is rich in detail with a great plot and characters. And as I started last night to read the whole series again I thought I better share my joy with the Amazon community. I really hope Ashmore brings back the Mellors and Halifax for a new time travel series! And I can't wait for Carl Ashmore to bring on another book- or preferably another series as good as this one. Well done Carl Ashmore!!

Becky, her brother Joe and Uncle Percy, the time traveller, are off to find El Dorado, the fabled Lost City.This book starts off with a massive bang. Emmerson Drake, their evil enemy blows up not only the Houses of Parliament, but just about every other major seat of power. The story then ramps up as the family set off to find the last of the Eden Relics.This may be a children's book, but I know of so many (alleged) grown-ups who love this series. It has great depth, lots of action, humour and love. What's not to like.I'm a bit sad that this is the end. The first Time Hunter story was the first kindle book I paid for and I feel I've been on this journey with the Mellors. I'd like to think there'll be more stories set in this world.

Highly Recommended By Jackie Semar Candid, absorbing, inspiring account of mother and family's commitment to a child presenting complex and dangerous behavior disorders. As an infant orphaned in Russia, Nadya suffered severe deprivation. She sought and feared love, with minimal capacity to regulate her reactions. This is the story of the heartbreaking effects of institutionalization, of children with profound trauma and virtually no hope of security or love. There are literally hundreds of thousands of children like Nadya who, if adopted early in life, have a much better chance to fulfill their potential. Nadya's story is an indictment of governments that abandon orphans and fail to place them with adoptive families. Highly recommended for adoptive families and professionals.

This book is an excellent resource for professionals By Brittany Russotto This book is an excellent resource for professionals, students, parents and anyone who is interested in adoption and/or Reactive Attachment Disorder. It gives us a special glimpse into what a day to day life would be like for families dealing with a child with RAD and special needs. Thanks to Lori's honesty, the reader is welcomed into the Hetzel family and can feel the joy and struggles that the family experienced. The Hetzel's are a very caring family and have provided their children with a loving family and home, even when it was difficult. Lori truly portrays what it takes to "love harder."

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. cannot recommend By JohnLA i returned this after getting about 10 pages in. i am wondering if this has been translated from another language? the writing was mistake filled and extremely general.it was so general that i felt i was reading one of my high school student's papers. the author made some very bold statements without giving specific credit to the studies he/she claimed regarding the findings. weird for a 'medical' book/paper.i am very interested in music therapy. this was going to be my first book on the subject.i will look elsewhere.

I appreciated the explanations of the different types of music therapy used. It is missing examples of these techniques are used clinically. Lastly, when using text to speech it reads the sources under the pictures so it would be nice to have a index of the credits rather than in the text.

Dover activity books are an inexpensive way to do that. My three year old grandson really likes tattoos, and for just a couple dollars, I can send him a few little books like this glow-in-the-dark tattoo selection. Nothing is more heartwarming than getting a follow-up phone call from an excited little boy who received some unexpected mail. The tattoos work well and he likes sporting funny looking owls and other Dover tattoos.I'm so glad Dover continues to make such a variety of fun little activity books for kids. Combined with Prime, it's an easy and inexpensive way to keep in touch. Gifts don't have to be expensive to mean a lot.

From School Library Journal Gr 1-5–This inviting combination of art appreciation and hands-on creations introduces 12 masterpieces in a child-friendly way. A brief introduction shares guidelines for using the book and cursory descriptions of materials. The artworks vary widely in style, technique, and medium, including works such as Edvard Munch's The Scream, Eadweard Muybridge's photographic series “Lawn Tennis,” and Roy Lichenstein's Girl in Mirror. On each spread a reproduction covers at least one page with the remaining space used for the title, date, artist's name, a brief biography, and background on the artwork. A half-fold opens to reveal an activity dealing with some aspect of the profiled piece. For example, Gustav Klimt's Portrait of Adele Block-Bauer I is paired with a lesson on making patterns and textures, and Giuseppe Arcimboldo's Vertumnus is combined with instructions on how to use vegetables and fruits to make prints of people. Michelangelo's David (shown torso up) includes a lesson on facial proportions. A glossary, an introduction to color theory, and a list of project materials round out the book. Susie Brooks has a first class history of art degree and has worked as an editor and writer of children's non-fiction and picture books for over ten years. She's an artist herself and does occasional art workshops with young children.

It features a lot of paintings and art pieces that are not often seen, so the material is very fresh and relevant. Too many of these kids' art books show the same paintings over and over again, so this is a welcome change. The activities that the book presents in conjunction with each piece are unique and interesting, too. A great change of pace. The layout is great, the text is concise and informative without being too wordy, and the color prints of the artwork are a terrific size that spans two pages. BRAVO!
