A fun mystery story about developing friendships and leadership qualities By BT I gave this book a 5-star rating because it's compelling to keep reading once you begin. In the first part of the book, the way that Maddie developed her deep friendship with Sam brought tears to my eyes. As the story evolved, I really liked the Alice in Wonderland feel and the challenges put in front of Maddie at every turn. As she overcomes her fear, Maddie meets each of the challenges, displaying leadership qualities such as confidence, empathy, and courage.. Though book was probably written for 8-12 yr olds, it's enjoyable for all age groups - because it is a story that can be enjoyed at face value (solving a mystery), but can also be enjoyed as a book about values and purpose.

Maddie Mackenzie, who is the main character, tells the story from her own perspective, which makes the story very interesting.I strongly recommend this book because it's very fun, interesting and you will not want to put it down!Ana Costa
1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Fun Family Read By W. Schmitz My daughter (age 9) and I both read this book individually and then had a book talk about it. We both felt it was extremely special that Maddie had such a special place to visit with her family and had such a passion about the Dolphins that lived there. The author described Hilton Head so that the readers could understand why this family feels so connected with the community. The story offered interest, mystery and intrigue. My daughter couldn't wait to find out why the dolphins were leaving and going to other shores. It was a great story for kids of all ages that have an interest in making a difference. While we have not yet been to Hilton Head, this story has ensured it will be on our list to visit soon. Looking forward to the next book in this series.
