2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. I was swayed. By Patsy Collins This book was a selection in a book club I've just joined and I wasn't entirely sure if I'd like it. Not having kids myself I didn't expect to care much for a character desperate to have a girl rather than a boy. I found I did care about her though. Not so much about which sex her babies were, but about her physical and emotional health and about her relationships with her family and friends.Serious issues aree raised in the book and some terribly sad things happen, but overall this isn't a grim or depressing story. It's emotional and involving and even funny at times.

By Yoeshua DeYoung This book was amazing as I'm trying to conceive and too desire a daughter I have 3 sons this book made me realize babies are blessings boys or girls it's women suffering from all sorts of depression from gender disappointment to infertility so as I look ahead I'm grateful for the opportunity to be a mother of whatever god see for me great read!!!!

An open-hearted insight into the world of gender disappointment By Caroline Vincent This psychological novel gives an insight into a controversial subject, the world of gender disappointment and gender desire. Charlotte is struggling with her desire to have a daughter, envisioning a life of a close mother/daughter bonding.It is shocking to see just how far people will go to have their preferred gender baby, even so far as destroying the world around them. It is hard to empathise with Char as she embarks on yet another diet or scheme that will produce her baby girl.Lucinda Blanchard has done a marvellous job of opening up a taboo, the hidden world of gender swaying by showing us all that Charlotte is going through, including the guilt and despair. Definitely worth reading!
