I think the book, the No cry sleep solution is also excellent, and when it comes to getting your baby to sleep better this book is frequently a bit at odds with that one. However, even though there are chapters about pumping for going back to work, the authors really push their agenda that you're not doing your baby any favors if you don't stay home with him. One section had me in tears and I do blame the hormones, not the book saying that "if you plan on going back to work, It has all the info you need.

About the Author Frédéric Othon Aristid (1913-2013), known as Fred, is one of France's most influential and revered cartoonists. By Jaap-Jan de Greef A very interesting fantasy where the letters ATLANTIC on a map are actual islands with all their bizarre creatures. Philemon and his donkey have all sorts of weird experiences. Psychedelic,different and amusing.

My review of the first three Philemon books By Stuart Dunn Frédéric Othon Théodore Aristidès, but more commonly known as Fred, was a French cartoonist best known for his series called Philemon. Shortly before his death in 2013, Fred finished volume 16 of this popular series and effectively brought the series to a close. One year after his death, TOON Books started translating these titles to English. To date, there are three published - 1. Cast Away on the Letter A, The Wild Piano, and The Suspended Castle. Allow me to tell you a little bit about the series and each of the books individually.Philemon is a French teenager whose best friend is a donkey named Anatole. He is also a bit lazy, a bit of a dreamer, and has a dad who gets easily aggravated at the "tall stories" that Philemon tells him. The first story Cast Away on the Letter A begins with Philemon falling down a well and landing on a beach. It is here where he met a well-digger named Bartholomew and finds out that he is on the island. The island is the letter A and part of the words on the map "ATLANTIC OCEAN." Who knew that those words on the map were actual places. :) He also encounters a centaur while on this particular adventure. Later in the adventure, Bartholomew and Philemon enter a ship in a bottle and sail to the other A in Atlantic where they enter into a labyrinth. Philemon loses Bartholomew and his wandering around, he escapes back to his home.In The Wild Piano, Philemon's dad thinks he's crazy, but his Uncle Felix remembers Bartholomew and is stunned to learn that Philemon found him. However, Uncle Felix seems scared to talk about the letter A island. He also fancies himself a bit of a magician, and he decides to help Philemon return and try and save Bartholomew. While there, Philemon breaks a law and must perform a concert on a wild piano. This ends up looking like a mix of concert and bull fight. Because he was able to defeat the piano, he is rewarded with an elevator ride. On this ride, he finds Bartholomew and they try to escape. While trying to escape, they encounter a giant man (perhaps Gulliver of Gulliver's Travels). Eventually, they do escape through a wardrobe (C.S. Lewis anyone?), which leads them back to Uncle Felix's room.In The Suspended Castle Bartholomew is sad to be back in his village. Having been gone 40 years, he feels completely out of place. He doesn't like the clothes he wears. He misses his castle and his centaur butler. Uncle Felix decides to help him return, but Bartholomew forgets his hat when leaving. This causes Philemon to chase after him. This time they end up on the letter I. They try to make it back to the letter A and Bartholomew's castle, but our captured by a captain with a boat shaped like a whale (thoughts of Melville come to mind). While Bartholomew and Philemon were rowing on the whale boat, pelican-shaped boats flying in the sky tried to capture the whale. They were only able to capture Bartholomew and Philemon though, which they took to a castle suspended by a rope. They were then mistaken as "cutters of the rope," whom the people had been awaiting for 2,000 years. Philemon and Bartholomew cut the rope (improperly) and the castle sank with everyone escaping except the captain who went down with his castle. Philemon and Bartholomew also make it back home.The first three books in the Philemon series are absurdly delightful. The illustrations are crude, but the number of literary references are astounding. If you are looking for a trip through strange lands, then you'll enjoy this series. I think it's more geared toward teenagers, but adults might find some pleasure in it as well.

Ti and the Magical Key: How it all began (Volume 1), by Dana Popov

From the Author We started the story of Ti and the Magical Key™ back in 2007 with the intention of bringing awareness to the tourists in what is today called the Riviera Maya. We had focused especially on the Mayan culture and the environment in this area however we never completed the story. Being a parent with a daughter who loves her books no matter if they are in English, Spanish, French or German inspired us to have a look again at Ti. We finished the first story in 6 weeks and are already close to finish the second one. There is a time for everything so it seems.

About the Author Dana Popov and Marc Evans are the authors of "Ti and the Magical Key". For almost 13 years they have been partners working together on several projects. Their writing is inspired by their daughter who loves books. This story came alive by the cultural surrounding of their home of choice, Mexico.

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Set in the ancient Mayan culture By Renee' France Mihld The setting of the story is the ancient Mayan civilization. I respect that the authors are staying true to the culture, but the names of the characters are hard to pronounce. This might be troublesome for a young reader or a parent reading to their child, and a pronunciation key would be very helpful. The authors did include pictures, names and descriptions of the main characters and also a map of the area and I found this very useful. The description of the gods and goddess was easy to understand with the exception of Ixchel who is the goddess of childbirth. I’m not sure how I would explain that to a young child. Ixcacao is the goddess of chocolate, but didn’t have a large part in this book, maybe there will more about chocolate in the next books.The book includes gods, goddess, Shamans and a high priest. A description of these titles would be helpful to children to understand the hierarchy.When Kukulkan comes looking for the key he is helped by Ixchel – who is married to another god. Ixchel is being a traitor, and going against her husband who is trying to protect the happiness of all the people. Kukulkan and Ixchel speak lovingly towards each other, and even though cheating may be an occurrence in real life, I feel it is not necessary in a childrens book like this.As Ti is traveling, he meets Nuuk Ha, a 95 year old turtle who is a very likeable and helpful character in the book. I like the part about the turtles hatching on the beach and have seen documentaries about this and it’s a fascinating occurrence in nature. When Nuuk Ha describes a large turtle, she refers to her as 700 kilos of real woman. The definition of woman is a human. This is confusing. Nuuk Ha is later referred to as an amphibian. This is incorrect, turtles are reptiles.The book is written for a grade level of 2-6, and an age of 6-12. I feel this is a good range for the writing style, grammar and words. It would be a good book for adults to read to younger children a few times, until their reading level caught up and they could read it on their own. The books ending was not the end of the story, and there are more books to come. The illustrations and graphics of the book are good. I received a copy of this book from the author, in exchange for an honest review

By Amazon Customer With Ti and the Magical Key: How it all began, Dana Popov and Marc Evans have created a suspenseful story of a young boy ordered to search the magical key. Ti and his new friend are believable and lovingly described; if you were not a turtle fan before - you might become one, now. It is a great story about friendship, suitable for children aged 6+. The story has a very pleasant flow, cute drawings assisting the plot line. Ti and the Magical Key: How it all began is a very enjoyable read - not only for children.This is for you and/or your children if you like children's adventures and/or folk tales with a slightly educational touch.Highly recommended.

Reichert It isn't often that we are able to find a book that keeps our children's complete attention throughout, that paints a beautiful story with its colorful imagery and at the same time, secretly educates the readers with history. But we found these things in this book. Ti and the Magical Key is a fun read, with characters who my son is still talking about long after the book was finished.We can't wait for the next book!

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. A fine start to this series By Mainer Little Girl Lost is a story of a young girl betrayed by an uncaring family. This first part of this short story series tells how Star is often left hungry and dirty because of her father and stepmother's gambling addiction. Sent to stay with strangers her life becomes better and worse. It is told from Star's viewpoint which gives her story even more poignancy. It is very well written and a fine start to this series. While a sad story, it is also a story that begs to be told.

Everything was going fine until Joey made her do things she didn't understand.What I don't understand is why Diane assumed that she was guilty. Diane, the adult told the little girl Star, that Joey didn't make her do anything. That was so wrong.

Steve Kirby is definitely one of the authors I recommend because of his writing talent. I hope you make more books because you havn't in more than 1 month. :( A good book to grab. Just for the future, and I don't care if u don't care, but I am not going to buy ur books. I think u should care though. Practical jokes and positive lessons By Heather King During spring break, 'city kid' Beamer heads to the country to stay with family and take part in the shenanigans of his cousin Bash just in time for April Fool's Day. This year, Bash is going beyond shaving cream in the bedroom slippers and has come up with a plan to make the cows on the farm give chocolate milk. There's also a robber on the loose, tadpoles changing into frogs, a painted goat, and a capsized rain barrel kayak to keep the boys busy on the farm.My nine-year-old daughter loves pranks and good jokes, and she loved this book, declaring it "super funny." I caught her reading it aloud at bedtime complete with a southern accent to add to the book's country charm.The book is quick moving and shows the kind of crazy, creative fun kids can get into when playing outdoors with good friends. In the middle of all of their antics, Beamer and his friends also learn about salvation, baptism, and how to trust God rather than giving into fear. I was sent this book to review and didn't even realize it was part of a series. Given how much my daughter loved this book, I might need to check out the other Bash books for her!I received this book free from the publisher. To be completely honest By Alysa This book by: Burton W. Cole and Illustrated By: Buddy Lewis is the third in the Bash Series. Bash, Beamer and their friends are living the simple life. Bash's farm is full of humor, adventure, pranks, a colorful goat, a cow that makes chocolate milk, and a robber! In the midst of kids being kids, they have serious thought and conversation about what it means to be baptized and the great commission.To be completely honest, I just could not get into this book. It was a difficult read for me because of the "redneck" talk between the characters. For example, the first few sentences read as follows:"Bash squished a blue Play-Doh snake over the last glitter-ing nail point jutting from the plank seat. "Better safe than screeching' 'bout prickly pants." His nose twitched like a rabbit with the sniffles. "'Sides, only thing better-smellin' than Play-Doh is chocolate."While this type of book might be appealing to school age boys, I (a 33 year old woman) could not get past this style of writing. Since the book is geared toward 8-12 year olds, I asked my 8 year old daughter to read it to see if she would like it. She did not get past the first couple of pages before telling me that she did not want to read anymore. I asked her why and she said it was not interesting to her.Without having read the previous two books, I do not know how this book compares to them. This is a wholesome book and age appropriate for the target audience. The cover is colorful and exciting. By Pirate2240 Spending time on the farm is what most kids would dream would be a time of untold imagination and unlimited fun. Where the sky is the limit and staying outside lasts well past the time the sun goes down. When Raymond William Boxby, known fondly as Beamer arrives to hang out with his third cousin, twice removed, but not far enough in Beamer's mind, Sebastian "Bash" Hinglehob. Their adventures are only beginning when reports of a robber being spotted in town, leaves Bash wanting to capture him and Beamer, trying to stay as far away as possible.Things begin as most would expect adventurous boys would, building boats large enough for them to fit in to gain access to catching frogs in the small creek on the edge of the farm, to helping set the stage for the largest April Fool's Day joke even on Bash's father. It will be the day that the dairy cows will give chocolate milk for the first time, and as every kid knows there is no better milk to drink than chocolate milk. Beamer isn't sure how Bash is going to pull this off, and he knows based on all his other pranks they have been attempting to pull off, they are likely going to be reaping the consequences of those actions for a long, long time.In the book, BASH and the Chocolate Milk Cows by Burton W. Cole, young readers will gain an true appreciation to what life was like before technology kept kids from being outside and letting their imaginations run wild. What Bash and Beamer do along with all the other kids from surrounding farms, is redefine what fun really is. From blasting off in a pretend chicken coop to galaxies far, far away, to smashing eggs on the dairy cows noses as they attempt to win the battle of the Moovarians versus the Cluckorians. Even the names the boys give to the frogs that they raise from tadpoles are completely hilarious and remind us all once more of the precious days of childhood.I received BASH and the Chocolate Milk Cows by Burton W. I did not receive any monetary compensation for a favorable review and the opinions contained here are strictly my own. I love the amazing illustrations that accompany the opening of each chapter. Just when you think the boys will finally stay out of trouble, they hatch another creative plot. It truly takes me back to my childhood days of catching frogs and trying to keep them at home, not a successful venture by the way, when they escape, and the unlimited ideas that come when two boys put their heads and imaginations together to fill their days when chores are done. The chocolate milk prank had to be my favorite one they manage to pull off but how they did it, will remain a secret until readers find out for themselves. I rate this one a 5 out of 5 stars and reminds me a lot of the Beverly Cleary series of books I read growing up.
