The concept is, if you haven't already heard through about 10,000 news reports, Iron Man is now "evil." But, its not that straight forward. See, in Axis, his personality flipped, not just made him evil. Unfortunately, Iron Man was not the most noble of heroes before, so he's not the worst of bad guys now. His pursuit of money and greed by feeding of peoples desire to be beautiful I thought was rather entertaining. And seeing him use his tech genius in new and more modern ways was fairly interesting as well. If I had any complaint, it would be having daredevil guest star so much, so early in the series. It tended to take away from the enjoyment of this version of Iron Man (kind of like how peter parker was a ghost in the head of the superior spider-man for the first few issues of the series. Otherwise, I loved the series and can't wait for volume 2. Also, please note, me giving it 5 stars does not mean I'm saying this is a perfect comic, but rather reflects my enjoyment of the series (which I loved).

He is done playing human By Tyler Tumbarello With the negative reviews that this book has I was a bit skeptical but I am collecting all of the Marvel Now books so I got it any ways and these negative nancies are so wrong.I am a huge fan of Iron Man and this book was fantastic. People are complaining about Tony being the Villain now but apparently didn't read Axis. In the events of Axis all the hero's perspective on everything flip flopped. If you cared about the wellbeing of humans you didn't any more. If you cared for the safety of the world you didn't any more. And if Tony's case if he didn't care about money, he does now. *and later in the book you find out why he really is doing what he is doing. I don't like going over every plot detail in a review because what is the point of buying the book if someone spoils it in the reviews but do not listen to the negatives for this book. It is a great start to a new series.

A book that is definitely worth your time By Noah Wilkinson Spinning out of AXIS, Superior Iron Man tells the story of Tony Stark with an altered personality, one bent on "improving" the public of San Francisco with his new "Extremis app". The public love the app because it makes them beautiful, but don't see that Tony has darker plans in mind. But fellow San Francisco dweller Daredevil, as well as Tony's girlfriend Pepper, aren't too happy about the new Tony and plan to do something about it.Having not read many other Iron Man stories, its hard for me to compare whether this holds up amongst the greats. Likewise, I have not read AXIS, although I got the impression it was a forgettable event in the sea of mediocre events Marvel has been putting out the last several years. I have, however, been following this story from the first issue and think it definitely deserves your time. The idea of portraying Tony Stark in a negative light is certainly not new. The character has been strongly associated with his role in "Civil War" for nearly a decade now and has always had a sort of unlikable personality. So right off the bat, there's nothing groundbreaking about this story. But it quickly builds into something more.Superior Iron Man starts off slowly, but finds more of its footing the further along it gets. Daredevil's guest appearance is interesting at first but quickly slows the book down as it takes focus from the main plotline with Pepper, which is set up early but not revisited for a few issues. Tony is written with smart quips as he is often known for, and when you see his evil side come out you truly start to despise the character. Despite this, there is some bizzare likeable charm to him that also comes across. Daredevil comes across as slightly out of character and the entire premise of the story is silly and unrealistic, but honestly I don't find thay difficult to get past because comics tend to be that way.The art isn't spectacular, but it's not really anything to complain about. I personally wasn't a fan of how the artist drew Matt Murdock, but the rest of the art is pretty enjoyable.Overall, volume one is a solid beginning and a good place to start if you're curious about what's going on with Iron Man right now. The next volume is where things really start to pick up (I'm loving this story right now), but for this volume I'm only giving four stars. I'd say give it a shot.
