When love is not safe By Margaux O'Connor I enthusiastically recommend Barbara Biggs’ In Moral Danger and The Road Home, books that chronicle her tumultuous upbringing as well as her subsequent rise to happiness and prosperity, a feat she has accomplished both for herself and in honor of her son.Barbara, once a sufferer of the exploitation that occurs with prostitution, the daughter of a sex worker, the sister of two siblings who killed themselves, a neglected child, and the victim of a predatory barrister, describes how her love for her son disarms, enchants, and ultimately heals the wounds of unsafe love. She also, as a grown woman, literally confronts Robert Vernon, the cold-hearted man who callously preyed on her when she was fourteen, then kicked her out on the street when she “inconveniently” fell in love with him. It’s an old story; it’s my story or your story. It’s not unspeakable or remarkable. What is remarkable is Barbara’s resourcefulness as she makes her way as a single parent. The books are savagely witty at times in addition to their pathos. Barbara’s voice is fresh, vibrant, and compelling; it is that of a plucky young girl who becomes an unforgettable woman.

By Monika "The Road Home" is the second part of "In Moral Danger" and this is the part where the author, Barbara Biggs, really grows and recovers from what happened in her early years. It is amazing to see how life has shaped her and how she managed to live and become despite everything. The book inspires and offers hope to all of us. Hard to put it down when you start reading!Monika
