It's the tale of a Mormon, who goes to Jamaica on his church mission, and has a hard time integrating into the culture. I think this is all factual and autobiographical. Most of the book is about the strangeness of Jamaica for someone who seems to have never left the US before, or maybe even his home town. Probably the thing that I loved the most about the book is how the author compared the country of Jamaica to Back to the Future Part 2. I loved this, because almost everyone else skips over the second part of the awesome trilogy. I really haven't seen much written about Part 2, but a significant part of this book is dedicated to its analysis. The book is supposed to be faith promoting, but it reads more a neutral account of someone who is shell-shocked from the culture difference from US to Jamaica. Since it's written from this perspective, it doesn't give a lot of exciting details about Jamaican culture and is more about the Mormon culture trying to propagate itself outside of the US. I liked it a lot. This covers the first couple months of a 24 month church mission. I hope the author publishes the next book in the series soon.Pros:+Original writing+Gives a great glimpse into the mind and mental state of a young man trying to adapt to a new culture+Very interesting readCons:-Very short and doesn't cover his entire mission. I hope that's remedied by another book in the series soon.

I served in Jamaica and loved the descriptions used and loved relating back to my mission. Very good read as well as written.
