Review A fun story with a solid message beautifully illustrated - and Sigal Adler successfully adds to her repertoire of fine children's books. Grady Harp, May 15In a tropical rain forest the storms have begun and Mrs. Spider and her son seek shelter. Spider Junior is swept away from his mother by a strong wind and blow away to a strange land - a beach by the ocean. He meets a shark who has lost his way and cannot find his way to the big shark party that night and he doesn't even know the kind of shark he is - tiger shark, blue shark, white shark. Spider Junior proposes an idea - if Sharky will give him a ride across the ocean to his home, Spider Junior will tell him what kind of shark he is. Once they arrive safely back to Spider Junior's home, Spider Junior tells Sharky he is a hammerhead shark - a very special kind of shark. With that Sharky swims home to the ocean party where everyone is celebrating. Spider Junior greets his parents who are very proud of his getting back across the ocean to his home. And two fast friends have been formed out of bravery, courage, and trusting in the manner of good friends.

By delicateflower152 Sigal Adler's "Spider Rider" tells a wonderful story and teaches children some good lessons about using ingenuity and persistence to solve problems.Written as a poem, this story uses a broader vocabulary and more complex sentences/phrases than many other children's e-books. Nevertheless, the story is easy to follow and to understand. It is a good book to read aloud, but you may want to preview it so that it flows smoothly during reading. I found the second time I read this to my grandson, he enjoyed it much more because I did not have to pause to be sure the emphasis and expression were correctly done.The colorful illustrations of Alex Mann enhance "Spider Rider". They have depth and detail not commonly found in many current children's books that seem to rely on flat, line-drawings. My only "complaint" was that the hammerhead shark was bubblegum pink and rather odd looking because of its color.I will be looking for other Sigal Adler children's books to add to my e-library Children's Collection.

A child spider gets blown to an island in a wind storm and takes a ride on a hammerhead shark to get back to his momma. They help each other solve their separate dilemmas and become friends. Wonderful illustrations full of color and fun. The story is unique and interesting while teaching children positive lessons about life. Loved it!!
